FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
20 May 2020
The Southern African Institute of Government Auditors (SAIGA) has announced on Thursday, 14 May 2020 that due to the current circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, all the scheduled Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses for 2020 will be offered through an online learning platform.
The uncertainty, with regards to the unfortunate situation caused by this global pandemic that also continues to affect the normal ‘way of life’, has influenced the decision by SAIGA to support their professionals with continuous development in a virtual way. The SAIGA Acting CEO Russel Morena said that the safety and wellness of their professionals is a priority and the decision was based on the SAIGA’s responsibility to protect the members.
“To kick-off with these changes, our first CPD course to be offered online is the Ethics for Public
Sector Auditing and Accounting Professionals, available for enrolment anytime between 6 May 2020 till
31 December 2020”, said Mr Morena. This Ethics course provided in partnership with the University of Pretoria’s Enterprises department will take attendees up to 2 hours of learning and it comes with 8 CPD points reward.
SAIGA will be introducing more online CPD courses on a regular basis. The courses will also be available via webinars and as podcasts. “We have also lined up a live webinar on the 22nd of May 2020 to be discussing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the public sector audits and to the public sector audit profession” added Mr Morena. SAIGA urges its members to
continue observing the national lockdown regulations as published by the government. To register for SAIGA online CPD courses, click here or put this URL on your browser: https://www.saiga.co.za/saiga/event/ethics-online/)
