COVID-19 has brought discomfort in our daily lives. The virus has impacted every aspect of society globally,
including the Public Sector Auditing and Accounting sphere. The auditing engagements that usually requires physical interaction have been shaken by unprecedented strain caused by the Coronavirus breakout.
To unpack the gravity of the strain, the Southern African Institute of Government Auditors (SAIGA) will be
hosting an Online Discussion Forum inviting attendees to critically look at challenges, lessons
learnt and the evolving role of the public sector auditor. The session will be facilitated by
Professor Lourens Erasmus, a professor at the School of Applied Accountancy and Chairperson
at the College of Accounting Science: Research Ethics Review Committee at the University of South Africa.

demonstrates agility in ensuring that our members and the professionals in the public sector auditing
and accounting space are empowered in this matter in a virtual way. This initiative is driven by
the Institute’s recent strategy to adapt to the evolving world digital” said the Acting CEO, Russel Morena.
The panel in the discussions will comprise of two experts within the public sector audit and accounting and
a managing member of NAMEDI Consulting – an accounting and audit consultancy,Sullivan Mphahlele.
This live webinar will allow attendees with an opportunity to ask questions to the experts.
