SAIGA and LGSETA have collaborated on a strategic endeavour aimed at bolstering service delivery and audit outcomes within municipalities, recognizing the critical role they play in the socio-economic development of our communities.
The purpose of the programme is to adopt dysfunctional municipalities across all 9 provinces of south Africa for a period of three years and assist them with initiatives that will solve issue identified across various communities.
11 municipalities have been identified and engage based on predetermined criteria. These amongst others are the issues which face each municipality and the baseline of the selection criteria that was used. We therefor are now calling upon accounting and auditing firms to submit proposal for the appointment of 11 financial advisory, financial and management accounting and audit firms. The firms will be part of the team responsible to turning around the state of the allocated municipality.

Careers at SAIGA
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Southern African Institute of Government Auditors (SAIGA), a professional body that has a focus on the public sector auditing and accounting profession. SAIGA certifies audit professionals in the public sector and provides technical support and guidance as well as technical training amongst others.
We are looking for a qualified and innovative Operations Officer to increase the efficiency in our operations. You will be responsible for providing oversight of the operations, management and delivery of the Institutes functions and supporting the Chief Executive Officer and management of the Institute.
In this role, your duties will include ensuring policy compliance, stakeholder relations and managing administrative related tasks such as compiling of reports, organising accommodation and travel, secretarial support, communications, and ensure the CEO’s day-to-day operations are seamless. The candidate must be a diverse individual with an understanding of the full Microsoft Office suite, exceptional organizational skills and have experience in operations management or project management.

Recognised Universities
The Institute recognises and accredits university academic programmes that are aligned with the competencies to become an RGA.
Universities are encouraged to apply to be recognised as a pathway to the RGA designation by providing students with opportunities to become professionals in the public sector. To qualify for SAIGA university accreditation, a university qualification should meet the following minimum requirements:
- NQF Level degree in Accounting, Auditing or Equivalent
- The degree must have the following majors or modules as part of the curriculum, Accounting, Auditing, Management Accounting or Financial Accounting as well as Taxation.
